Setting the Standard for Bottle Shares with Standard Brewing Co.

Posted by on Dec 4, 2015

Around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10 more than 30 craft beer enthusiasts joined forces at Standard Brewing Co. in Maryland Heights for one of the most epic bottle shares in Craft Tap history!

Jonesy, Standard’s head brewer heartily welcomed the cooler-toting crowd of craft beer aficionados to his piece of beer heaven, a section of the bar right in-front of his soon to be completed brewhouse. And, without haste, more than 60 bottles were placed along the bar with care in hopes that the host would open them there.

bombay_logoAmong the selection of more than 60 bombers, bottles and growlers were three new-to-the-area Belgian brews from our friends at Bombay Wines and Spirits. From a tiny brewpub in West Flanders called Brouwerij ‘t Gaverhopke come Extra, a Belgian Quad; Bitter Sweet Symphony, a Belgian Double IPA and Singing Blonde, a Belgian Strong Blonde Ale. This writer would wax poetic about the brilliant Bitter Sweet Symphony, but his vocabulary won’t allow it. Instead, you should be sure to grab a bottle of this sticky, citrusy, well- balanced Belgian IPA and share your poetry with a comment.

Key to a good bottle share is epic food, and epic food Standard has. From their newly released Foghorn, a spent grain pizza with roasted chicken and white chili sauce, to their always popular house-made pretzel sticks and beer cheese, soaking up beer’s never been more enjoyable. Everyone who ordered some food to accompany their beer was entered into a raffel to walk out with a mega Standard Brewing Co. stoneware mug. Cheers to Woody who walked away with the prize!

We’re so pleased to be a part of such an awesome and generous craft beer community, and we thank you for the strong showing, friendly nature and awesome beers! We are truly lucky to have such awesome folks around us! And, a big shoutout to our buddies at Standard Brewing Company, Bombay Wines & Spirits and the guys from Two Plumbers for the support!

Our next bottle share will take place from 7 – 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at Design2Brew, 9995 Winghaven Blvd. in O’Fallon. Bring a bottle or two and we’ll work on getting some beer soaking snacks to accompany.
