Prost to a successful Craft Tap Tuesday Bottle Share

Prost to a successful Craft Tap Tuesday Bottle Share

The St. Charles beer community made a strong showing at the second monthly Craft Tap Tuesday Bmikes_logoottle Share at Mikes Grill + Tap this past Tuesday evening.

Joined by some 15 craft beer-carrying-connoisseurs, more than 30 beers were cracked, consumed and conversed on. A special thanks to Hari Patel at Bombay Wines & Spirits for sponsoring a special section of the share featuring a beautiful green wax-topped bomber of 2nd Shift Hibiscus Wit aged in a Pinckney Bend gin barrel available only from Bombay. Hari, in collaboration with Scott Snyder of Artisan’s Cellars, also offered a couple of new-to-Missouri IPA’s from California brewery Cismontane Brewing Company.

Cismontane’s Hop Dumpster, a West Coast Double IPA weighing in at 9 percent ABV and 85 IBUs, features Citra, Amarillo, Chinook and Bravo hops. This citrusy, piny, somewhat juicy and boozy beer is an very drinkable one we’re excited to see in the state. Cismontane’s Coulter IPA is hop forwarFullSizeRenderd with earthy piney notes and awesome bitterness. The beer’s bready aromas balance the hop bitterness and a hit of rye provides head retention. This sneaky IPA weighs in at 7.2 percent ABV and 60 IBUs.

Bombay Wines & Spirits was the ring master at the center of the 2nd Shift/Pinckney Bend collaborative project. Evidence of this can be seen on the bottle’s label featuring Bombay’s tiger guarded logo.  The always refreshing Hibiscus Wit was definitely kicked up a notch with the noticeable trace of gin and the associated floral flavors lingering until finish. There may be plans for additional local collaborative barrel age projects in non-traditional barrels from Bombay. We’ll keep you informed should another Bombay special release come through.

Thanks to the local beer community for coming out to the second ever Craft Tap Tuesday bottle share. A special thanks to Tom of Mike’s Grill + Tap for allowing us use of the space, excellent service, stellar food and for sharing Oskar Blue’s new IPA!

If you are interested in craft beer, brewing, or just hanging out with a motley crew of beer folk at local establishments, block out 7 – 10 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month on your calendar and join the fun! Bring a brew or two, a drinkin’ buddy, a few bucks for a corkage fee to keep us on the up and up, and your beer drinkin’ lips for awesome beer and community each month. the_standard-brewing_1000px

We’ll be packing up the coolers, tasting glasses and bottle openers and heading for the newly opened Standard Brewing Company in Maryland Heights for November’s Craft Tap Tuesday Bottle Share!

We’re working hard securing locations for all the months in the year, and if you have any suggestions we’d appreciate the input as we work on filling out the 2016 circuit.

Cheers and remember to drink locally!
